Background Information
Ring finger protein 31 (RNF31), also named HOIL-1-interacting protein (HOIP), ZIBRA, is an atypical E3 ubiquitin ligase, belongs to ring finger protein (RNF) family. It was first cloned from breast cancer cell line MCF7 and was identified as a classical component in linear ubiquitin assembly complex (LUBAC) to facilitate NFκB signaling transduction. It also plays important regulatory functions in controlling important oncogenic pathways in breast cancer, such as ERα and p53. RNF31 is highly expressed in muscle, heart, and testis. In cells, RNF31 mainly localizes to the cytoplasm. (PMID:27460922)
