Background Information
Granzyme A(GrA, a tryptase) is necessary for target cell lysis in cell-mediated immune responses. It activates mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization- and caspase-independent cell death pathways by cleaving the mitochondrial complex I component NDUFS3after lys56. Among serine proteases GrA has an unique quaternary structure consisting of a disulphide-linked homodimer of 60kDa linked via Cys93.(PMID: 12819769) This protein has 2 isoforms produced by alternative promoter usage with the MW of 29 and 27 kDa.
