Background Information

UGT1A10 belongs to the superfamily of UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs) catalyzing the glucuronidation reaction, which is important in the detoxification and enhanced elimination of many endogenous and exogenous substrates. Recently, UGT1A10 was the only enzyme in all 19 known human UGTs to catalyze DA glucuronidation. The UGT1As, among three subfamilies (1A, 2A, and 2B) found in human, share a common C-terminal domain of 245 residues. The N-terminal domains that determine their substrate-binding specificity are variable.
