Background
ALKBH4 (Alpha-Ketoglutarate-Dependent Dioxygenase AlkB Homolog 4) is a member of ALKBH protein family. It’s a dioxygenase that mediates demethylation of actin monomethylated at Lys-84 (K84me1), thereby acting as a regulator of actomyosin-processes. Demethylation of actin K84me1 is required for maintaining actomyosin dynamics supporting normal cleavage furrow ingression during cytokinesis and cell migration. ALKBH4 may also be involved in transcription regulation.
Application Notes
This product was manufactured as described in Protein Details. Where possible, Active Motif has developed functional or activity assays for recombinant proteins. Additional characterization such as enzyme kinetic activity assays, inhibitor screening or other biological activity assays may not have been performed for every product. All available data for a given product is shown on the lot-specific Technical Data Sheet.
Protein Details
Full length ALKBH4 protein (accession number NP_060091.1) was expressed in E.coli cells with an N-terminal 6?~His tag. The molecular weight of ALKBH4 is 37.4 kDa.
Storage
Recombinant proteins in solution are temperature sensitive and must be stored at -80°C to prevent degradation. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles and keep on ice when not in storage.
