Background Information
MLK3 (Mixed lineage kinase 3) is also named as MAP3K11 and activates the JUN N-terminal pathway. It influences microtubule organization during the cell cycle. Mouse epididymal sperm contained an 60 kDa variant of MLK3, which may have been a result of proteolytic cleavage of the longer 93 kDa form seen in many tissues and the 50 kDa band is not known and not infrequently observed(PMID:17377140). Exposure of cells to LPS resulted in an increase in MLK3 dimers(of approximately 220 kDa), whereas inactivation of GSK-3b by TWS119 blocked MLK3 dimerization(PMID:21194439).
