Background Information
AKNA also named as AT hook transcription factor is a 1439 amino-acids protein. AKNA, encodes a lymphoid-specific AT-hook transcription factor that is highly expressed by B and T lymphocytes. It coordinately regulates expression of the CD40 receptor and its ligand (CD154), two molecules that are critical for antigen-dependent B-cell development. AKNA expresses at least nine distinct transcripts, some of which are expressed in a tissue-specific manner. These transcripts are products of alternative splicing, alternative promoter usage, and alternative polyadenylation.
