Background Information

Family with sequence similarity 181 (FAM181) a gene family that contains two members FAM181A and FAM181B in vertebrates. FAM181A is predominant expression in human and mouse testes. Knockout of the Fam181a gene in mice does not impair spermatogenesis or male fertility (PMID: 34253288).
