Background Information

COL12A1 (Collagen alpha-1(XII) chain), also known as COL12A1L. It is predicted to be located in the ECM. Type XII collagen interacts with type I collagen-containing fibrils, the COL1 domain could be associated with the surface of the fibrils, and the COL2 and NC3 domains may be localized in the perifibrillar matrix. The molecular weight of COL12A1 is 333 kDa. It is reported that the molecular weight of the protein is 268-460kDa (PMID: 31273343).
