Background Information
Protein Aster-A (GRAMD1A) is a cholesterol transporter, which contains unique domains for binding cholesterol and the plasma membrane (PM), thereby serving as a molecular bridge for the transfer of cholesterol from the PM to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It was reported that plays a role in autophagy regulation and is required for the biogenesis of the autophagosome (PMID:31222192). It can be detected as 80 kDa.
