SNX11 belongs to the sorting nexin family of proteins which contain a phox (PX) domain. PX domain is a phosphoinositide binding domain. SNX family members are involved in intracellular trafficking. SNX11 protein lacks C-terminal coiled-coil motifs found in several other SNX family members.
