IHC workshop on FFPE brain samples with the Manchester Brain Bank
Proteintech are excited to host the IHC experts from Manchester Brain Bank, a biobank centre who collect and supply human brain tissues for research nationally and internationally. Led by Dr. Andrew Robinson, his team have many years of experience performing IHC on post-mortem brain tissue samples.
Since its inception in the 1980s, the Brain Bank have published over 400 papers on frontotemporal dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases. Post-mortem tissue IHC often has issues due to inconsistent sample handling, long-term storage, age at collection, artefacts. Different tissue types will also have their own challenges.
Talk schedule:
Yvonne Davidson and James Minshull, Senior Research Technicians at Manchester Brain Bank
Topic: Routine histology, tissue processing and practicalities of immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent staining of post-mortem FFPE brain tissue.
Dr Andrew Robinson, Director of Manchester Brain Bank
Topic: Retrospective neuropathological diagnosis of TDP-43 proteinopathies: Factors affecting immunoreactivity of phosphorylated TDP-43 in fixed post-mortem brain tissue.
