Background

LEFTY-1 is a member of the TGF-beta family of proteins that plays a role in left-right asymmetry determination of organ systems during development. LEFTY-1 regulates transforming growth factor, mitogen-activated protein kinase and other signaling pathways, and is considered to have a potential anti-inflammatory function (PMID: 29286065; 26316705; 10500184; 9708731)
