| Background | Red fluorescent proteins (RFPs) is a collective term referring to a heterogenous group of red chromophore-carrying proteins, originating from various species and forming different protein lineages. The original RFP (dsRed) is a 225 amino acid fluorescent protein (25.9 kDa) derived from Discosoma sp.. It emits red light with a peak wavelength of 593 nm upon excitation by green light (excitation peak at 558 nm). When fused with other proteins, RFP serves as a versatile reporter protein e.g. for quantifying expression levels or facilitates visualization of subcellular localization through fluorescence microscopy. This antibody is a rat monoclonal antibody raised against RFP, reactive to a variety of RFP derivates, including mOrange, DsRed, mCherry, mRFP, mRFPRuby, mScarlet, tdTomato, mKate2, and mPlum. |

Reviews
The reviews below have been submitted by verified Proteintech customers who received an incentive for providing their feedback.
FH Prabha (Verified Customer) (07-25-2025) | The antibody 5f8 binds very specific and the efficiency of immunodetection is excellent. Our lab is using this antibody for the past 6 years and we highly recommend it our neighboring labs too.

FH Paulina (Verified Customer) (04-24-2025) | Endogenous mScarlet from CRISPR knock-in of a low-expression protein was detected with the 5f8 antibody. Antibody works nicely. Fixation: 2%PFA, triton permeabilization, primary antibody diluted 1:100, secondary antibody 1:200 anti-rat AF488-conjugated.

FH Anzy (Verified Customer) (08-13-2024) | Works well against mScarlet-i
|
FH Prabha (Verified Customer) (09-11-2023) | The RFP antibody 5F8 is really excellent. Immunodetection shows specific detection without any background signal.

FH Ramzi (Verified Customer) (01-24-2023) | I have tested the anti 5f8 Rat and the secondary I used anti-GFP Rat 488. I used vibratome brain sections from creER2 tomato DsRed mice. I tested in 2 different ratio 1:200 and 1:1000 both worked very will and this is the images I took.
