Background Information

Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for nucleosome structure of the chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes. Histone H1.5, also known as Histone Cluster 1 H1 Family Member B (HIST1H1B), is a member of the Histone H1/H5 protein family. Histone H1.5 gene has been found to be frequently mutated in colorectal cancer and follicular lymphomas. HIST1H1B overexpression contributes to tumor aggressiveness. Histone H1.5 expression is upregulated in breast cancer and predicts poor prognosis(PMID: 34746019).
