Background Information

CAMKMT, also named as C2orf34 and CLNMT, belongs to the class I-like SAM-binding methyltransferase superfamily and CLNMT methyltransferase family. The CAMKMT enzyme participates in cell cycle and development, regulating the production of calmodulin with three methyl lysine residues directly or indirectly. It also plays a major role in the calcium-dependent signaling pathway and posttranscriptional modifications, including Lys-115. CAMKMT is expressed mainly in the brain, liver, muscle, colon, and lung and is involved in muscle cell activities that are regulated by calcium binding (PMID: 27435482). The molecular weight of CAMKMT is 36 kDa.
