Leucine-rich repeat and fibronectin type-III domain-containing protein 5(LRFN5), belongs to a family of five small transmembrane protein genes involved in the development, organization, and plasticity of synapses. And LRFN5 has another synonym which stands for synaptic adhesion-like molecule 5 (SALM5). SALMs are newly characterized adhesion molecules predominantly expressed in the brain contributing to neurite outgrowth and synapse formation.(PMID: 37280213)
