Background Information
STAT2 (signal transducer and activator of transcription 2) is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. STATs undergo tyrosine and serine phosphorylation in response to growth factor or cytokine signaling. This phosphorylation results in dimerization and translocation of STAT proteins to the nucleus. STAT2 has been shown to be activated by IFNa and IFNb, and to associate with the transcription factors p48 and p300.
