Position Description:

The Licensing Associate’s role is to plan, negotiate, and execute commercial agreements for scientific products.  As part of the Business Development team, you may collaborate with others in R&D and Product Management to develop a licensing strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should have experience in intellectual property licensing and technology transfer
  • Establish and maintain business relationships and communication with researchers, inventors, technology transfer, and commercial partners
  • Contacts potential licensees to explore utilities and value of new innovations to entice commercial collaboration
  • Reviewing and negotiating license agreements, supply agreements, and other types of agreements including inter-institutional, material transfer, collaboration and confidentiality agreements
  • Maintain an organized record of all inbound and outbound agreements
  • Web-based Database Mining including PubMed

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry or related field
  • 2 Years experience in licensing in the life science, oncology, or technology-based market

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent organization skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with external business partners
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to take ownership and leadership of projects from inception to completion, including developing strategy, implementation, and execution of tasks
  • Commercial experience preferred
  • Comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
