Background Information

Beta-Ala-His dipeptidase (CNDP1) encodes the secreted serum carnosinase, which is synthesized in the brain and secreted into the systematic circulation, CNDP1 hydrolyzes L-carnosine and is essential for glucose metabolism and the transportation of activated fatty acids across the mitochondrial membrane (PMID: 32111749, 16046297).
