Background Information
The acyl-CoA dehydrogenases (ACAD) (EC 1.3.99) are a family of nuclear-encoded mitochondrial enzymes involved in the metabolism of fatty acids and branched chain amino acids (PMID: 13295225). The eighth member of this family, ACAD8, catalyzes the conversion of isobutyryl-CoA to methacrylyl-CoA in valine catabolism (PMID: 12359132). ACAD8, also named as acyl-Coenzyme A dehydrogenase family, member 8, has 3 isoform which molecular weight is 45, 31 and 38 kDa.
